Interior Painting Tips and Tricks

Painting your home is a great way to update the look and feel of any space in your house. However, it can be time-consuming if you don’t know how interior painting works behind the scenes! At Ethereal Painters, we offer professional services that will make sure everything goes smoothly from start to finish as quickly and efficiently as possible.

1. How to Choose the Right Primer

Are you a professional painter? Do you need to choose the right kind of primer for your home’s surface type? If so, it will depend on whether or not your walls are new drywall. Most painters would use water-based primers in this case because they help hide imperfections and provide even surfaces before applying paint. But if there is an older panelling or damage involved then oil-based might be used instead – as long as there isn’t any standing water present!

2. How to Avoid Streaks

To ensure paint doesn’t streak once it starts to dry, a professional painter will be sure their brush is wet when they move on from one section of the wall. They do this by painting all the way up and down each wall first before moving onto another part so that there’s no overlap or signs where one stroke ends and another begins.

3. How to Determine the Kind of Paint Already on the Walls

Before painting the walls in your home with new paint, it is important to first determine whether oil or latex paint was previously used. This simple and quick test can be performed by soaking a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol then wiping down an inconspicuous area of the wall for at least 30 seconds until you’ve seen enough residue on the cotton ball to know if there’d been any previous use of either kind: If so, this means that we’re dealing with oil-based paints here; otherwise (if no visible traces remain), latex will have served as our substrate’s coating material before now.

4. How to Prevent Leftover Paint from Drying Out

When painting your home, a professional painter will wash out their brushes several times throughout the day to ensure that they do not dry. At the end of each workday, prior to washing out the used bristles from paint trays and cans with water or turpentine oil (to clean it thoroughly), any cut can/tray liners are thrown away and replaced before dumping back into main paints using brush as much possible. The main paint can lid will then be secured in place and sealed with a hammer.
